Tales of Suspense #59 Featuring the First Solo Captain America Story since the 1950′s

Captain America is Back!

OK – You’ve fallen out of a drone plane into the North Atlantic Ocean where it is so cold you catch a mild case of hypothermia and spend the next couple decades frozen in a block of ice. What’s one of the first things you do when you wake up?? Well, if you go by the name of Steve Rogers you would probably do a little house sitting for The Avengers, look through some old photo albums and get attacked by a bunch of thugs after your butler rats you out – exactly what Captain America does which features the first solo appearance of the Stars and Stripes character.

As many comic collectors know, there is a Captain America movie titled “The First Avenger: Captain America” scheduled to come out in July of 2011. It is apparently in pre-production at the moment, but it is sure to garner lots of attention if previous Marvel comics based movies are any guide. As most Captain America fans are aware, the story is based on Steve Rogers, a young man who is declared as being “unfit” by the US Military during World War II. He is so desperate to serve his country, he volunteers for a secret government project that basically turns him into a super soldier – and the rest is history! It is bound to be a little better than the 1944 version of him below – especially now that Disney will be involved!
