Developing. A rumor Muammar Gaddafi has been captured was just broadcast live on BBC World News tv. Anti Gaddafi forces were yelling “the curly haired one has been caught”, a clear reference to the former Libyan leader. Anti-Gaddafi forces had just seized the city of Sirte, considered to be the last hold out of pro-Gaddafi forces. Now BBC News is reporting that a Libyan news source has reported that Moummar Gaddafi has been killed.

Two independent news agencies are reporting this rumor as well. News organizations are still awaiting official confirmation and proof but assuming this is true, it would clearly be a huge victory for the transitional Libyan government.
It has been reported that Gaddafi has been injured in both legs. “Gaddafi is in the hands of the rebels…. Libya is celebrating …. you have captured this criminal…this is your day…you have sacrificed your youth, your son….this is not a news item…this is happiness we are reporting…nobody was trying to hear our voice…except the rebels…they have achieved today…the criminal who has destroyed this country…and today, we will try to restored the happiness of our country” – just broadcast on Libyan TV by an unknown reporter.
Gaddafi was captured as he attempted to escape.
