It’s a Bird… It’s a Plane…It’s a Print of Superman Signed by Joe Shuster!

I told you I had neat stuff!

What could be neater and more gosh-gee-willakers-wow than a print of Superman himself – signed by his co-creator Joseph “Joe” Shuster????? ()

Back in the 1930′s a couple of geeky kids from Cleveland named Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster found each other through their mutual love of Pulp Magazines, writing, drawing and Science Fiction (um…and not much else…OK – they liked girls too…but lets stick to the subject)

After many failed attempts, they finally were in the right place (or the wrong place…but again, another story) to have their creation put into print! They called him Superman and he first appeared on the cover of Action Comics #1 in June of 1938 – a copy of which just sold for $1,000,000!

Sadly, both creators are now deceased… but their beloved character lives on! If you know a comic nut named Jennifer… I am pretty sure this would make a great gift!

Batman Clobbers Superman in Collectibles Battle of the Century – Detective Comics #27 in CGC 8.0 Condition Sets Comic Book Sales Record of $1,075,500

Dallas – What a week for comic books! First a copy of Action Comics #1 (the first appearance of Superman) sold privately for $1,000,000. Now comes news out of Dallas that Heritage Auction Galleries has sold a copy of Detective Comics #27 (the first appearance of Batman) for $1,075,500.

Published in 1939, it is very rare for a copy in this condition to survive for so long. It was purchased by (I’m just going to call him a far sighted genius, as he or she has chosen to remain anonymous) more than 40 years ago and carefully stored for all this time.

Dying to read the first edition and see what happens? You can easily find Who knows, maybe someone will find an original copy in their attic after reading this and it will pop up there too! It could happen. The same thing happened with a rare Nintendo cartridge (See our post about it here) just last week!
